Pierre MOSCOVICI, Minister for the Economy and Finance, has chosen to appoint Mr Ambroise FAYOLLE to head Agence France Trésor from 6th March 2013. He succeeds Philippe MILLS who was appointed Chairman and CEO of Société de Financement Local (SFIL) on 1st February.
His knowledge of the financial markets together with the relationships he has built up with international decision-makers through his duties at the Directorate General of the Treasury at the Ministry of the Economy and Finance, then at the IMF will help bolster confidence in French government debt. This appointment demonstrates Pierre MOSCOVICI’s desire to strengthen relationships with investors in France and abroad.
Ambroise FAYOLLE, a graduate of the Ecole Nationale d’Administration (ENA), represented France on the Executive Boards of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank, in Washington, from September 2007. He had already been posted to the IMF between 2003 and 2005. The bulk of his career has been spent at the Directorate General of the Treasury in the Ministry of the Economy and Finance, where he headed the State Financing and Monetary Affairs Bureau — the predecessor to AFT — between 1997 and 2001. Prior to returning to Washington, he was head of the Multilateral Financial Affairs and Development Division (2005-2007), as well as Sous-Sherpa for the G8 and Co-Chairman of the Paris Club, for which he had served as Secretary General, then Vice-Chairman between 2001 and 2003.
