The council of ministers this morning adopted the Budget Bill for 2004. The slideshow presenting the bill to market economists is available (in French) on Agency France Trésor's web site, www.aft.gouv.fr. As a result of this budget, the financing needs for 2004 amount to EUR122 billion. No increase in the amount of outstanding BTFs (short-term notes) is planned for the coming year, after a growth of EUR25.1 billion between 2002 and 2003. AFT confirms that the medium and long-term financing needs for 2003 will eventually amount to EUR111.4 billion after buybacks, as announced in September 2002.
